PLA is our default material for prototypes and general-purpose parts — easy to print cleanly, low-odour, and available in far more finishes and fill effects than we keep on hand as a matter of course. Beyond the standard spool, we can source specialty PLA blends for texture, appearance, or added functionality.

PLA is rigid and prints to a high dimensional accuracy and clean surface finish, holding fine detail well. It's not the material for parts that will see sustained heat, mechanical stress, or outdoor exposure — for those, we'd typically recommend PETG, ABS, or an engineering-grade polymer instead. Within the PLA family itself, the variant chosen changes the outcome: Silk and Marble finishes are purely cosmetic, Wood-fill and Metal-fill add texture and mass, Carbon-fibre adds stiffness, and ESD-safe or antibacterial grades serve specific functional requirements.
