PETG bridges the gap between PLA and ABS — tougher, more impact-resistant, and better suited to parts that see repeated handling, moisture, or mild chemical exposure. It keeps much of PLA's ease of printing while holding up considerably better once the part is actually in use.

PETG resists impact and chemical exposure noticeably better than PLA and is far less prone to warping during printing than ABS, making it a reliable choice for functional parts without needing an enclosed, heated print environment. It isn't as heat-tolerant as ABS or an engineering polymer, so it's not the right pick for parts sitting near a heat source. Within the family, High-Flow variants print faster, Carbon- and Glass-fibre grades add stiffness, and ESD-Antistatic grades suit electronics-adjacent fixtures.
